James Anderson, the Burnley Express, whistled into Shropshire yesterday ready to prove his fitness ahead of one of the biggest years in the history of English cricket.
England’s leading paceman has been struggling with a niggling knee injury since returning from the winter tour of South Africa and sat out the recent visit to Bangladesh.
But 27-year-old Anderson has made encouraging progress in recent weeks and expects to make his comeback for Lancashire in a pre-season game against Durham University on Saturday.
