Jimmy Anderson makes his acting debut on the big screens at Edgbaston.
England cricketer Jimmy Anderson has swapped maidens for monologues by making his acting debut in a tongue-in-cheek video to encourage people to regulate their summer drinking.
The 26-year old, who is spearheading England’s bowling attack in the Ashes series, stars in the hilarious film for alcohol awareness charity Drinkaware and their ‘Drink less, Miss less’ campaign to make people think about their drinking and the effect it can have on their health and wellbeing.
The film is part of a campaign to demonstrate how some of the best summer moments can be missed because of excessive drinking, in particular when a trip to the toilet can come at the most crucial of times.
The minute long film which will also be screened at cricket stadiums throughout the Ashes series (including Edgbaston on Thursday), features Jimmy running in to bowl in a test match and getting the batsman out LBW.
Unfortunately for Anderson, his big moment is ruined by the umpire who was unable to control himself any longer…the full film can be viewed at www.drinkaware.co.uk/
Jimmy Anderson said, “It was great fun shooting the film for Drinkaware, although it was hard not to laugh when we were filming the very final scene! I wanted to get involved in the ‘Drink Less Miss Less’ video not only because I thought the idea was really funny but because it also has a more serious message behind it.
It’s not just about regulating drinking because you might need the loo, it’s also about encouraging people to think about the effect alcohol can have on their health and wellbeing.
I know some people will be having a few drinks at the Ashes this summer, but I want to encourage people to do it in moderation – I don’t want anyone missing out on what’s shaping up to be a great series!”

This made me laugh so much! Such a good way to publicise the potential drinking problem (Although it is a big reason why people go to the cricket for a 7 hour drinking session haha!) Good idea tho and very funny

Damn, I was hoping for Shakespeare.
I love the Mongoose video. Why not have it on here?
Hope all goes well with your knee.
Bloody ripper, mate! Pissed myself laughing out loud. This should be broadcast in Australia, albeit with an Aussie accent. But, then, none of the Aussie cricketeers are half as handsome as Jimmy A.
It’s amazing.I am a Sri Lankan. But i love england.I’m crazy about it.In that way i love England Cricket too.On my opinion Jimmy can try to act in a film because he con do the best.He is so handsome.Daniella is lucky to have him.I’ll come to England and i will meet Lancashire Express & his family.Expect me after 5 years.
